Scholar Spotlight: Terrance J.
Terrance J. (10th grade) reminds us of the terrifying beauty we may find when we take a good look inside ourselves in his original poem “Imagine the Unbelievable.” Take a look below:
Imagine the Unbelievable
we are the voices
of those
who can’t
be heard
misunderstood
for who we are
what if
we are all
just flowers
budding
bright
strong
vibrant reds & greens
standing upright
straight
slowly folding into ourselves
when seasons change
turning
from light
into dark black
our petals
slowly breaking
one
by one
until
there’s only
stem
the hidden message might be
watch how we all
die
inside
people misunderstand the we we see our world
the way we speak our world
speak our minds
but our words
fall mute
to deaf ears
we are not a game
to be played with
sometimes our kindness
mistaken for weakness
we have learned
never to ask
for too much
instead
wait
for others
to offer
we hold
the world’s music
in our backs
we stand
on broken glass
with uncut
feet
we are
untouchable
we are
hurt
sometimes
we are crazy
but
we are headed
home
